Preparing a Child for a Vaccination Visit So They Feel Less Scared

Chhote bachche injection se naturally darte hain. Unko forcefully pakad ke, jhoot bol ke (“kuch feel nahi hoga”) le jana unke liye aur traumatizing ho sakta hai.

Preparation ghar se hi start hoti hai. Simple language me batao: “Doctor ek chhota sa tika lagayenge, thoda sa chuhega, but bohot jaldi khatam ho jayega. Yeh tika tumhe bimari se bachata hai.”

Clinic me last-minute “surprise” mat do. Agar bacha thoda bada hai, usko deep breathing sikhao—saans andar, count 3, saans bahar, 3. Injection ke time unko favourite toy, video, ya story se distract karo.

Parents ka calm rehna bohot important hai. Agar tum khud anxious ho, bacha double nervous ho jayega. Nurse/doctor ko bhi bolo ki thoda friendly tareeke se explain karein, ek hi baar me quickly karein, unnecessary delay na ho.

Injection ke baad chhota reward—sticker, chocolate (agar allow ho), ya sirf extra hug and appreciation (“you were very brave”)—future associations improve karte hain.

Aim yeh nahi ki bacha kabhi na roye, balki yeh ki wo dheere-dheere samjhe: “Thoda dard hai, lekin mujhe protect karne ke liye hai,” aur medical settings se extreme fear na develop kare.
